How to Make Snow Boots for Dogs Fit for the Holiday Season
With the Holiday season fast approaching your dog will need several dog booties to keep them warm. If you find it quite taxing and expensive to buy booties for your dog, then why not make one for yourself instead. If you have the talent to sew then making this dog bootie for the Holiday season is perfect for you. You can make as many as you like and even give them as presents to your friends and families who have pets also.
To get started for this project, you will need the following materials: sewing machine, thread, needle, pins, marker, fabric, sketch pad, pencil, tape measure, accessories, Velcro snaps, pattern paper, rubberize fabric, and shears.
1. Measure your dog’s paws from the back heel to the front. Do not include the nails when measuring your dog’s paws. Note down the measurement so that you will not forget. Add at least an inch to all your measurements since you will need to sew the ends to prevent from ripping. You can also ask for your friend’s dog paw measurements.
2. Use the sketch pad to make a design on several dog boots for your pet. Add a twist of Holiday season design on it to make it fit the occasion you are celebrating.
3. With the designs ready, draw it on the pattern paper. Place it on top of the fabric and secure it with pins. Follow the same instructions for the rubberize fabric. This fabric will be used as dog booties sole.
4. Cut the fabric using the pattern paper as your guide. Sew the ends. Attached the rubberize fabric to the thicker fabric. Follow the drawings on your pattern paper as it will be your guide in creating the dog booties.
5. Attach the Velcro snaps on the front to secure the booties in place once worn by your pet.
6. Add some accessories to make it fit for this Holiday season.
